The right contract classes can make all the difference.
Every day, lawyers and professionals like you decide what agreements should say, when to accept a specific redlined change or refuse, and how to explain to your counterparty and counsel your clients on those issues.
The challenge is developing that expertise in a world with slashed training budgets and managers who are overwhelmed with their own workload, leaving little time to provide that feedback and guidance.
Our contract training offers a solution.
How to Contract is the definitive source for real-world continuing education tailored specifically for lawyers and professionals. Our in-depth, authoritative content equips you with the skills and knowledge to master the complexities of commercial contracts, enhancing your professional capability and confidence.

NICE TO MEET YOU
I'm Laura Frederick.
I created How to Contract to help you learn how to draft and negotiate agreements in the real world, not an academic theoretical one.
I learned real-world contracting like most - thrown in the deep-end, expected to draft and negotiate without the training to feel confident or comfortable. I was always worried I'd bring down my clients with my mistakes and misjudgments.
That's why I spent most of my law firm and in-house career looking for good practical contract courses. Despite my constant search, I never found what I really needed - someone to tell me exactly what to say in our commercial contracts, when to accept or reject changes from my counterparty, and why.
In 2020, I decided to create it myself. I took all the expertise and nuanced insights I'd learned from my 25+ years as a commercial contracts lawyer working as an associate in Big Law and as in-house counsel in companies like Tesla.
Thousands have taken my training and regularly tell me how it changed their careers, boosted their confidence, and brought more joy to their work.
